Sr. Accountant – Transaction Tax
KBR is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage the delivery of functional objectives by providing leadership and direction to team members; will initiate and keeps track of tax reports, returns, and other information connected to taxes. The Senior Accountant will ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and tax statutes to reduce tax liability. Job duties will include but not be limited to the following:
Responsibilities: Position to be split between Property Tax and Sales Tax and Unclaimed Property
Responsible for Real and Business Personal Property Tax compliance
Responsible for the administration of the property tax software PTMS, and company accruals, and audits.
Assist with gathering and preparation of documentation for sales use tax audits
Quarterly Account Reconciliations for property tax.
Assist Sales use tax team as needed for monthly reconciliations/SOX Testing
Ensures compliance with state and local property tax laws;
Ability to engage in informal and formal negotiations with assessors, boards of equalization and appeal courts-preferred.
Assist with other special projects- Sales Tax, Unclaimed Property, Intercompany
Knowledge of property tax laws and regulations and valuation methodology for real and personal property
Ability to evaluate historical and current tax information and estimate future tax expense.
PTMS a must
Bachelor’s Degree required plus a minimum of 3-5 years relative experience
Proficient in Microsoft Office Products
Excellent computer skills including spreadsheets and information systems
SAP experience preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi-task with little supervision
Ability to work in a complex deadline oriented environment
