Power Plant Operator – Contingency hire

Under direct supervision perform assigned daily work as required. Explain instructions and documentation to plan work activities. Helps coordinate movement of materials and equipment to work locations and sets up work site. Completes and reviews records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various cleanup activities. Job may require moderate to heavy lifting. Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience.

Must be able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English and have knowledge of: Principles of electronics and electricity, including generation, conversion, transformation, distribution, and utilization; types, capacity, and purpose of low voltage circuits, circuit breakers, switches, fuses, regulators, relays, instruments, and meters associated with electric generation and distribution; interpreting instrument and meter readings; wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings and technical publications; techniques of operating and maintaining internal combustion engines, Generators, generating plants, distribution panels, and accessory equipment; use and purpose of test equipment; safety rules and practices; environmental policies; principles of management; and operation and repair of electrical power production systems. Experience with operating and maintaining Generators ranging from 5 to 2,500 kilowatts desired.

Power plant operators shall be capable of running Windows type based software on computer systems (The present software is provided by General Electric). The electrical productions system is completely automated with no manual override. Electrical productions personnel shall have computer skill to operate these systems without question.

Must be fluent in English

Must possess passport book (not passport card) with at least 15 months of remaining validity AND with at least 6 blank visa/stamp pages remaining

Must possess driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity
