KBR JOB DESCRIPTION:

Organizes and coordinates the activities involved to maintain and repair mechanical equipment, including trucks, automobiles, diesel engines, etc. Ensures that equipment is maintained according to requirements. Utilizes Computerized Equipment Management System to monitor and control equipment maintenance. Advises employees of proper operation and maintenance of equipment, trains new mechanics, and further develops skills of current workers. Monitors equipment operation at job site and ensures that proper maintenance and safety procedures are followed. Trains PSL equipment operators in preventive maintenance procedures. Orders and maintains an adequate inventory of parts and supplies to ensure timely maintenance. Promotes safety, QIP awareness, and teamwork. Requires specialized training in diesel mechanics and equipment repair or equivalent experience, thorough knowledge of field services equipment operation and maintenance, and a minimum of 5 years experience in field maintenance.

PROJECT JOB DESCRIPTION:

Preferred possess EVT I & II certification, training and requisite experience. EVT’s perform inspections, maintenance, repairs, diagnoses, and performance testing in accordance with NFPA and shall be capable of performing heavy vehicle maintenance on commercial and military design firefighting vehicles and equipment. Activities include inspection, diagnostics, repair, replace, and rebuild of components and assemblies. EVT must have strong troubleshooting skills on various makes/models. The EVT must have first-hand experience identifying and ordering of critical parts to designated sites and submits requisitions to replace special bench stock. The EVT submits and tracks parts and supply requisitions for fire assigned vehicles and critical equipment.

EVT’s determine the overall mechanical condition of vehicles and equipment, corrections of deficiencies required, and effects repair. EVT’s systematically analyze malfunctions by visual and auditory examination or through the use of test equipment. EVT’s repair, adjust, overhaul or replaces major assemblies or subassemblies such as power and drive trains, transmissions, electrical, air-conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, pumping, suction and agitator, and traction systems. EVT’s are capable of removing and disassembling gasoline or diesel engines and associated components. The EVT is responsible for calibration of gauges and performs adjustments to pumps, meters, proportioning devices, and limiting devices to ensure proper operation. In addition, the EVT synchronizes remote or manual electrical and hydraulic controls, adjusts power boosters, clutches, drive chains and tension devices and performs hydrostatic hose testing of refueling vehicle and equipment.

EVT’s shall follow the recommended manufacturer maintenance schedule and ensure all vehicles are maintained in accordance with the schedule. The EVT will promote teamwork and actively participate in quality improvement process, as well as promoting safety awareness and compliance with all applicable safety procedures and regulations. Proficiency is typically gained through 5 – 7 years of experience on fire trucks and associated equipment. Graduate of a recognized Emergency Vehicle Technician Course or prior military fire truck mechanics are preferred.

Must possess driver’s license with at least 6 months of remaining validity
