HVAC Technician

Job Description

Installs, operates repairs, troubleshoots, and accomplishes preventive maintenance on small and large refrigeration, air conditioning (A/C) units, plants and associated systems.

Repair or replace malfunctioned /defective HVAC equipment, electrical components or wiring. Reassemble and test heating-cooling equipment following repairs.

Repairs, overhauls, maintain, and services industrial/commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and refrigeration units.

Troubleshoots and locates malfunctions, diagnoses problems and determines appropriate repairs.

Adjusts, repairs, or replaces thermostats, pressure stats, relays, switches, and wiring.

Repairs or replaces compressors and components, electric motors, fans, belts, and pulleys.

Services and repairs evaporators, condensers, and receivers.

Repacks valves, lubricates moving parts, replaces filters, cleans coil, and provides preventive maintenance on equipment.

Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.

Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Collects and analyzes diagnostic data.

Applicable technology experience includes; vibration analysis, infrared thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic testing/leak detection or electric system/motor diagnosis.

Perform vibration analysis, infrared thermography, oil analysis, and ultrasonic testing.

Maintains records of PDM activities utilizing current software applications.

Maintain current certification as required.

Maintain calibration of all instrumentation and diagnostic equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

A minimum of an Associate’s degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school coupled with 5

years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must possess an apprentice license or equivalent.

Backflow Prevention certification required.

NACI required

Preferred Qualifications:

Journeyman’s license preferred

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Vibration analysis certification preferred.
