The opportunity

KBR’s South Australian business is experiencing continuing success in urban and defence infrastructure projects and is expanding its civil engineering team.

The Civil Engineer position will work within an established team leading to significant flexibility in the candidate’s background experience.

Applications are sought from engineers with experience and knowledge derived from any or all of urban land development, drainage, road construction, bulk earthworks, rail infrastructure, car parks, WSUD, building construction or sporting facilities.

Projects are ongoing with Local Government, State and Federal Government clients.

Interest and/or demonstrated experience in project management and proposal development would be considered favourable.

KBR expects that the successful applicant with be approaching Chartered Engineer status, if not already achieved.

Key Responsibilities

Work independently to complete design and engineering calculations under the guidance of a civil discipline lead to meet or exceed client expectations, within the agreed budget, and are delivered on or ahead of schedule and with minimal risk to the health and safety of people and the environment.

Undertakes design work of civil engineering components of projects in accordance with KBR established policies, procedures and requirements.

Prepare technically sound, well written and easily understood proposals, reports, technical specifications and calculations.

Undertake calculation checks and verification of engineering calculations, reports and deliverables completed by others within the team.

Assist in the preparation of delivery of design drawings produced by the team.

Undertake the role of superintendent of construction contracts.

Develop and maintain client relationships and industry knowledge.

Take the role of project manager for civil discipline small projects for local government, state government, developers and builders.

Maintains contact and communication with the client and focuses on providing client satisfaction where leading a civil infrastructure projects.

Develop a

strong understanding of client needs and achieve a high level of satisfaction.


Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years’ experience

Knowledge and experience working with Australian Standards

Demonstrated experience working on civil infrastructure projects (drainage design, site levels and grading and pavement design)

Demonstrated experience on land development and local government projects

Demonstrated experience in the role of superintendent for civil construction contracts

Developing knowledge of commercial and contractual arrangements and relationships

CPEng would be highly valued, otherwise a demonstrated willingness to achieve CPEng and a demonstrated progress towards this (or equivalent)
