Our Government Services division is seeking an experienced Mechanical Systems Engineer to work on our Landing Helicopter Dock (LHD) project, as a Platform Manager for one of the two LHDs. By conducting design review, you will have a direct impact on the engineering decisions for the support and sustainment of the LHD vessel. You will also be responsible for taking a leading role in engineering discussions and providing technical advice on mechanical systems and equipment. To be successful in this role, you must have experience with Defence industry and/or working directly with the Australian Department of Defence in an acquisition and sustainment project. The role is based at Garden Island in Sydney.
Conduct regular reviews of systems design and provide input into systems analysis reports
Conduct engineering assessments to include options, recommendations, and cost estimation
Monitor condition of mechanical systems and equipment and resolve issues as required
Deliver engineering solutions to solve equipment obsolescence problems
Review engineering design tasks for replacement of marine equipment and conduct technical design reviews
Collate and analyse data to determine the health of systems as defined by system boundaries
Ensure a safe and healthy working environment
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in a relevant discipline
Demonstrated experience to Level 3 in Platform or Systems Engineering in Defence environment
Experience in the application of classification society rules and the naval technical regulatory framework
Australian Citizenship with current or previous AGSVA Security Clearance
