As a subject matter expert in training, works directly for the company’s subject matter experts in liquid and vapor hydraulic transient analysis, particularly in support of sizing and analysis of subsea risers and onshore and offshore pipelines. Creates simple to complex models of hydraulic systems using software such as

PIPENET, Stoner Pipeline Simulator (SPS), and OLGA.

Under general supervision, interprets output and results of system transients to provide answers on pressure profiles, stress analysis, and mechanical design of subject systems.

Also responsible for translating this information in to mechanical design parameters for multiple downstream documents, predominantly in the oil & gas sector, including process simulations, design basis documents, reports/studies, material and energy balances, and specification of control and isolation valves. Further work results in development of process flow diagrams (PFDs) and process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

Work also requires development of equipment loads for selection of mechanical equipment and overpressure protection analysis, including relief scenario development, relief device sizing, and flare design. Responsible for line list, major equipment list, and control and relief valve summaries.

REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation,

performing liquid and vapor hydraulic transient analysis using PIPENET, Stoner Pipeline Simulator (SPS), and OLGA; direct experience with industry codes API 14C, 520, 521 and ASME B 31.3 and Section VII; using process simulation tools; developing flow diagrams (process and utility), process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID), and equipment loadsheets; performing equipment sizing, line sizing, relief valve sizing, and overpressure protection analysis; using SmartPlant P&ID and PDMS, and performing

topsides design for FPSOs, and offshore platforms.

In lieu of a Master’s degree and 2 years of experience, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering and 5 years of experience in the skills listed above.
