Sr. Benefits Specialist

Position Description/Job Responsibilities

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Health & Welfare plans

Vendor management of (Employee Assistance Program) EAP and other vendors on a day-to-day basis. Primary liaison for EAP including critical incident response with vendor. As the liaison to our external EAP, be comfortable and willing to arrange EAP response to crisis situations, such as worksite deaths/serious injuries, next of kin death notifications, etc.

Partner with HR, Legal, Health & Safety and Security on sensitive matters.

Implement new vendors and programs from end-to-end participating in RFP process, implementation project management including change management, follow up after installation to audit for problems internally and external to our systems and processes.

Resolve complex / escalated employee and claim and eligibility issues with HRIS, process and vendors

Track HRIS issues including chasing problems with interface files with the help of IT to determine the root problem

Supports annual open enrollment, operative planning and onboarding activities

Making adjustments in SAP and ADP systems for benefit deductions.

Presentations to employees in-person or holding calls, presence at employee meetings as needed

Reporting and special projects as they arise.

Support in preparation of regulatory documents including Form 5500’s, Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs), Summaries of Material Modifications (SMMs) and Summary Annual Reports (SARs)

Continued training on systems and technical skills associated with position.

Demonstrate professional ethics and compliance with regulatory requirements for Health & Welfare and Retirement & Savings Plans.



Undergraduate degree

3-5 years minimum benefits experience

Experience managing an Employee Assistance Program

Available to be on-call to coordinate with our EAP vendor to mobilize a counselor for a death or critical incident

Experience implementing vendors and coverage lines

Heavy Annual Enrollment participation

Experience managing projects

Analytical skills required

Global Benefits experience helpful

Strong understanding of regulatory compliance requirements

Strong written and verbal communications skills required

Strong Microsoft Office skills required: Intermediate level or better for Excel, Word, and Outlook

Ability to learn systems quickly such as HRIS and related programs, SAP experience a plus

Commitment to ethics in representing department to internal (employees) and external customers is required
