Under general supervision, independently applies advanced engineering techniques for design of slurry hydrocrackers, makes decisions on engineering problems and methods. Perform process design for and develop Process flow diagrams, Heat and material balances, P&ID's for slurry hydrocracker Basic Engineering Packages and proposals. Provides technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers to make decisions and resolve complex engineering problems. Contribute in meetings with multi-discipline engineers and clients. Works on projects with a measurable asset such as an assigned staff and budget.
Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Chemical Engineering and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation working on heavy oil conversion processes and hydrocracking; including simulation development, flow sheet optimization, P&ID generation, and equipment specification, using Pro-II and Promax simulation software and dynamic simulations; performing and reviewing Aspen, Hysys, Promax process simulation, and heat and material balance development; applying international design standards ASME, API, NACE,NFPA. Requires some experience performing yield estimating, reviewing Process flow diagrams; reviewing and approving equipment sizing and process datasheets.
In lieu of a Master's degree and 2 years of experience, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience in the skills listed above.
