Position Description/Job Responsibilities
Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Under general direction, uses specialized knowledge or skills to solve complex and unique problems and direct the daily activities of the network functional support team. Establishes priorities for the completion of assigned tasks. Uses judgment to interpret internal and external issues and develop best practices. Directs resources, prioritizes tasks and provides guidance to less experienced team members. Relies upon experience, interpersonal skills, and broad knowledge of field to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategy. Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets and monitoring expenses.
Responsible for establishing team goals and managing the AIM process for individual team members.
Reviews circuit billing for correctness.
Participates in the annual budgeting process.
Investigates, recommends and installs enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network availability.
Ensures the team follows established processes (change, incident, request, problem).
Demonstrated knowledge of Cisco network operating systems, network design, routing and switching and network equipment (e.g., ASA, 6509, Nexus, Prime)
Experience in troubleshooting in four or more of the following; routing and switching, wireless, QoS, application load balancer and VPN technologies.
Strong skills with Routing, Switching, QoS, and Data center switch equipment (Nexus 7k, 5K, 3K and 2K).
Proven experience with Cisco Wireless LAN and Cisco Prime.
Experience deploying, configuring and supporting Riverbed Steelhead WAN optimization appliances utilizing the SMC.
Provide 2nd level support for networking hardware and software problems.
Monitors and configures network to optimize performance and resolve faults.
Skilled at performing site surveys and developing and carrying out an implementation plan.
Ability to plan and implement scheduled maintenance work.
Skilled in liaising with third party providers.
Manages backup network configurations, maintains history, monitors and prevents unauthorized change.
Ensure compliance of all supported network gear to established standards.
Development and maintenance of technical documentation.
Working knowledge of F5 Big IP load-balancing LTM setup and configuration.
Current Cisco certifications with CCNP desirable along with other industry certifications.
Cisco call manager technologies a plus.
Participates in the on-call rotation.
Skills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of an undergraduate degree and 8
years of experience implementing and supporting networks. Additional years of experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree. The successful candidate will have the technical knowledge to solve problems, ability to align technical implementation to business strategy, provide direction to more junior members of the team and be able to operate successfully with little to no supervision. Experience with Cisco voice technologies a plus. Ability to identify issues in the network environment, make recommendations for improvement and implement the solution. Ability and willingness to mentor, train and share knowledge with team members. Must be prepared to collaborate with a global team members located in other time zones. ITIL v3 foundation and/or exposure to incident/problem management and change control.
