Attorney- International Trade Compliance
Position Description/Job Responsibilities
Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Perform work for determination, completion, and application of export license applications for the U.S. Departments of Commerce, State, Treasury, and other applicable export regulatory agencies
Interacts directly with all departments, customers, freight forwarders and brokers to resolve international trade compliance issues
Responsible for maintaining current knowledge of U.S. trade compliance regulations, managing dynamic workload including license administration, foreign person visits, classification issues, export determinations, and other trade related matters
Provide effective integration of trade compliance procedures into business processes
Prepare training materials for and conduct Compliance Training
Other compliance responsibilities such as reporting and performing audits
Provide advice throughout KBR relating to FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) and anti-corruption
Provides guidance on KBR’s International Commercial Agent and ISI policy to ensure it is being followed throughout the company
Manages outside counsel on matters related to JV and Commercial Agent due diligence
Any other duties assigned
JD with 1-3 years experience
Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas
Knowledge and experience with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and U.S. trade sanctions/embargoes required
Knowledge and experience with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act/Anti-Corruption Compliance helpful
Knowledge of Harmonized Tariff Schedule helpful
Customs Broker license holders helpful
Strong communicator with employees of all levels
Ability to establish and maintain credibility and trust throughout organization
Ability to quickly assimilate information relating to complex issues
Personal and professional maturity
Discreet, able to protect confidential information and high degree of integrity
